nn as in name

Tongue tip up behind your top teeth, and hum through your nose: nnn.

ˈn n a m m e
name
n n o
no
ˈn n ew
new
ˈn n ɛ e t t
net

Now say it yourself

Read each word from its sheet, out loud, three times. Where there's a play button, listen first and copy what you hear. Slow is fine — speaking clearly matters more than speaking fast. Tap a word's microphone to record yourself and see which sounds landed.

ˈt t ɪ i n n
tin
ɪ i n n
in
æ a n n
an
ˈn n ow
now
ˈs s ʌ u n n
sun
ˈm m oo n n
moon

Where your tongue goes

n needs real contact: the tongue tip presses against the ridge behind your top teeth while the hum escapes through your nose. In name and net, rushing the word can make that contact disappear, leaving just a nasal vowel.

Say no slowly and feel the tongue touch and release before the vowel starts — that touch is what makes it n rather than a vague nasal sound.

Don't let it turn into ng

Before a k or g sound, n naturally shifts back in the mouth — that's fine and automatic. But at the end of words like in, an, or sun, keep the tongue tip forward; don't let it slide back and turn into the sound in sing.

A quick check: say sun and sung back to back. If they sound identical, your tongue tip isn't reaching the ridge for n.
